This is the time when we all must look around for regional films which offer new concepts, stories and slots. Timepass is a great movie directed by Ravi Jadhav. It released this Friday to gala response and managed to earn whopping Rs 5crore in the 1st weekend. This feat was unheard till now in the Marathi cinema world. Critics too managed to appreciate the movie well.
Nikhil Sane who is the producer of the film stated that such response was unexpected. This was the 1st time when 250 screens for regional film were available. The film was running with 6,000 shows per week and all houseful. Earlier this record was of film Duniyadari (2013). This made R5 crore business in the entire week. Similar figures are expected in the next 2 following days till the official statistics are revealed.
Jadhav has even been honored for earlier work in Balgandharva and Natarang. This movie is light hearted story line which does not has established names coming from the Marathi industry. Young faces managed to attract audience with fresh and eclectic charm.
The director mentioned that this is a youth-centric movie due to which the response is quite unbelievable. Some cinema houses even pulled off hindi movies shows for making extra screen space allotting for “Timepass”. This is a warm and great landmark for Marathi films.
